To some, it might seem like a modest number—but for me, it represents a year of creative growth, reinvention, and finally saying yes to myself as an artist. From Art History to Artist: Coming Full Circle in My Creative Journey

I earned my BA in Art History over 30 years ago. After that, I spent 15 years working as a graphic designer. Since 2010, I’ve been building and navigating various handmade-based businesses. However, it wasn’t until recently that I finally committed to making art under my own name. And wow—what a difference it’s made!

With encouragement from old friends and new faces in the creative community, I’ve spent the past year truly committing to my art.

2025 Has Been a Year of Firsts (and It’s Not Over Yet!)

This year has been filled with incredible milestones—some big, some small, but all meaningful:

• 🎨 Connected with my local artist community

• 📁 Submitted my first application for a juried group show (and got in --woot!)

• 🖼️ Debuted in my first gallery exhibition—and showed work at three different local art initiatives

• 💰 Sold my first, second, third, and fourth artworks to strangers (a surreal and amazing feeling!)

• 🗂️ Applied for my first artist grant (I didn’t get it—but I’m already planning to apply again!)

• ♥️ Joined the Board of the Orange County Arts Council to keep art front and center for me

  
  

Each step has felt like a major leap. I’m proud to be walking this path authentically, visibly, and under my real name.
