The Midnight Series — New Botanical Shadow Boxes

Summer in the Hudson Valley has a particular kind of abundance—Queen Anne's lace sprawling along roadsides. Black-eyed Susans burning gold against the heat. Daisies pushing through wherever they can find light. It's everywhere, and if you're paying attention.
The Midnight Series started there.
These are small works. Each piece is a 2.5-inch square collage mounted on a wood block and set into a shadow box frame. The dark backgrounds do something unexpected to the botanicals — they isolate each flower, pull it forward, give it a presence it might not have. Outside, these plants are generous, abundant, and easy to overlook. Against darkness, they become something else. Something worth a longer look.
These are Hudson Valley summer in concentrated form. Four original pieces. Each one unique, each one ready to hang. Priced at $35 and available at my booth at OC Live! on July 18th, and then I'll upload what doesn't sell to my website
